Habitat Skateboards
Founded in 2000 by Joe Castrucci as a sister company to Alien Workshop, Habitat Skateboards has long been known for its eco-conscious approach. The brand has experimented with materials like bamboo, hemp, and cork in its decks, alongside water-based glues and inks, and offers a line of organic skate apparel. Habitat also boasts a strong team featuring some of skateboarding’s most respected names, including Stefan Janoski, Bobby De Keyzer and Silas Baxter-Neal.
Launched in 2000 as an offshoot of Alien Workshop, Habitat is known for its high-quality skateboards and apparel. Rooted in street skateboarding and skateboard filmmaking, the brand’s visuals and art direction have consistently been guided by classic graphic design principles. “We are inspired by our team and the intersection of skateboarding, art, and the natural world,” says co-founder Joe Castrucci.
Habitat’s team riders have become mainstays of modern street skating, featuring legends and standouts such as Fred Gall, Kerry Getz, Tim O’Connor, Rob Pluhowski, Danny Garcia, Brian Wenning, Mark Appleyard, Stefan Janoski, Ed Selego, Danny Renaud, Raymond Molinar, Silas Baxter-Neal and more from around the world.
Over the years, Habitat has released a series of iconic skate videos, from Mosaic and Inhabitants, which introduced talents like Silas (2008 SOTY) and Stefan Janoski (the man behind the best-selling skate shoe of all time), to more recent, smaller projects highlighting rising stars like Mark Suciu (2021 SOTY). For more than 30 years, Habitat and Alien Workshop have driven skateboarding forward while celebrating individuality at its core. United as “The Sovereign Sect,” both brands remain independently owned and operated out of Cincinnati, Ohio.
