Deathwish Skateboards
Deathwish Skateboards is another company that comes under the banner of Baker Boys Distribution. It was founded by pro-skaters Erik Ellington and Jim Greco back in 2008 the brand takes it’s name from 1974 movie that stares Charles Bronson. Deathwish is known for it’s pretty raw and gnarly looking graphics and the team certainly fits in with this vibe. With Deathwish there is the whole package available and not just decks, wheels, hoodies, tee’s caps and beanies…
In 2008, the video 'Baker Has A Deathwish' officially introduced Baker’s new sister brand, Deathwish Skateboards. The hour-long film featured the full Baker team alongside what would become the original Deathwish roster, helping the new brand gain instant recognition through Baker’s established legacy. The brand’s name was inspired by the cult classic film Death Wish, starring Charles Bronson, while the iconic “gang sign” logo was taken from imagery in Death Wish 3.
In 2016, Deathwish paid tribute to its cinematic roots with the VHS Wasteland deck series, designed in the style of vintage movie posters. The typography was created by Mark Foster (aka Foss), known for his work with Altamont and Heroin Skateboards. The video featured standout parts from both original riders and newer additions, including Furby, Neen Williams, Moose, and a memorable closing part from Jon Dickson.
Today, Deathwish Skateboards continues to thrive with a stacked team featuring Jamie Foy, Jake Hayes, Pedro Delfino, Taylor Kirby, Victoria Rusga, and Julian Davidson. Their talent is showcased in the latest video Uncrossed, with powerful parts from the entire squad.
