Vans are one of 'the' skate shoe companies in the world today. Vans started out in 1966 as The Van Doren Rubber Company and sold shoes direct to the public from their factory in Anaheim, California. By the early 1970's skateboarders all over Calfornia were seen skating the Vans shoes as their rubber provided great grip. fast forward a few years to 1976 and Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva design the Vans Era. Vans Skate Shoes are based on lots of classic Vans silhouettes. The Era was designed by Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva in 1976, the Old Skool came along in 1977, Style 38 (AKA Sk8-Hi) was introduced in 1978, 1988 Steve Caballero get's a model, his Half Cab is a best seller in the skateboard line to this day. Vans side stripe and their waffle grip sole are instantly recognisable and are seen frequently throughout the range.
