5 Bridges Skateboard Deck – Reissue Launching 21/02/26
Bridges By Thirtle; Limited Skateboard Deck re-release!
By now, anyone connected to skateboarding in the North East and anyone with their ear to the ground further afield in the UK will know about the devastating loss of Five Bridges Skatepark in Gateshead. 5Bridges was a free to use undercover space that had provided shelter from the conditions and a place to skate since the 70’s, originally being a street spot, and then transcending into the skatepark we all knew in the 00’s.
Here at Native, we thought now was an appropriate time to re-release our Bridges By Thirtle Decks, a skateboard deck made in celebration of Five Bridges, what it meant to skaters in the North, and the impact it had on our skate scene. The deck shows a photo of the infamous Bridges Pillar taken by local skateboarder and photographer Adam Thirtle, a long time friend and ex employee here at Native.
We print the boards in house here, and first released them in 2024, and the response was incredible. Instantly popular, both sizes of the deck were flying out the door, whether it was a rider, or one to hang on the wall. With this re-release, we’re expecting them to be just as popular, especially with Bridges now being gone, the decks are a real nod to what once was and the effect it had on North East skateboarding.
Five Bridges not only was host to countless local skaters, but also hosted some of the biggest skateboarders and skateboard teams ever. Demos from companies such as Emerica, Enjoi, and sessions from namestays like Flip and Blueprint are etched into North East skateboard folklore, with some of the biggest skaters ever such as Andrew Reynolds, Jerry Hsu, Louie Barletta, Tom Penny, Geoff Rowley, Jamie C and many more putting down hammers over the years.
This re-release is the last time these decks will be available for purchase, and we’re anticipating them to fly out like the original release. They’re available for pre-order now and once they’re gone, they’re gone. So if you think you’d like to own a piece of local skateboard history, don’t miss out as both sizes are very limited in quantity. The Bridges By Thirtle decks officially re-release on Saturday 21st February, 2026.
