Creature Skateboards; A Hesh Lords Favourite Skateboard Company!
Creature Skateboards was founded in 1994 by Russ Pope, Russ was already a well known artist and was former TM (Team Manager) for Santa Monica Airlines. The early Creature team featured big names such as Jason Adams and Darren Navarrette. However, after only a few years, Creature stopped operating in the late 90’s.
Fast forward 10 years, and with the help of Santa Cruz’s art director Lee Charon, and old team member Darren Navarrette, Creature Skateboards relaunched, and over the last 20+ years, has gone from strength to strength.
A certain type of skater has always been drawn to Creature, whether it’s the gnarly horror themed style graphics, the often used heavy metal music in videos, or the crazy and usually mega dangerous style of skating, Creature definitely have their niche, and it’s one that many skaters have heavily backed over the years.
As well as many classic deck graphics released over the years, Creature offer a very popular line of apparel as well, with an instantly recognizable brand logo, their tees and hoods have always been a hit, but offering caps, beanies and other accessories like belts as well, means Creature is a staple brand for clothing and boards for skaters who like a hesh style brand and graphic style.
Creature have always had an excellent team representing their brand, with big names including Milton Martinez, Kevin Baekkel, David Gravette, Chris Russel, Colin Provost and many more putting down heavy hammers for Creature. Some notable older videos from Creature include Heshers on the Run (1996), Fiends (1997), Born Dead (2006), Black Metal (2007), Hesh Law (2009), and some more recent offerings include, The Creature Video (2017), Gangreen (2021), Havoc (2024) and most recently Sever (2025). If you’re a Creature fan and you haven’t seen those, get them ticked off.
Creature have also released some notable collabs over the years, including the very recent Creature x Cannibal Corpse collaboration, which has been very popular here at Native.
If you’re already a fan of Creature, then you don’t need us to tell you, but if you don’t know much about the brand and are a fan of hardcore, horror style graphics and super gnarly skating, check out the videos and skaters mentioned earlier, as well as having a look at some of the super sick Creature Skateboards product we have on offer here at Native!
