@Nice_Footage Instagram Interview
We recently hit up the man behind Nice Footage (a skateboard footage Instagram page that’s gaining some serious momentum) with a quick few questions.
Hello Mr Nice Footage, would you like to introduce yourself? (As best you can, we know your identity isn’t public info)
Hey I run @nice_footage on Instagram a page where I post ‘nice footage’ haha.

Can you give us a bit of background on your relationship with Native? Since we’ve known you since your grom days
My relationship with Native started through my dad really, children’s clothes were never cool and my dad was a big skate fiend so having a good core local skate shop stocking good skate brands was a nice growing up memory especially when looking back and having a Baker tee that was like 5 sizes too big for me on, must’ve been going for that Wade D Kayo ‘It’s Official’ type drip from young.
What was your biggest inspirations in skating as a kid?
Biggest inspirations for skating as a kid was mainly the same as they are now to be honest whereas now there are a bunch of newer guys (2010- onwards). The likes of Jerry Hsu, Gonz, Kalis/ Stevie Williams and the best to ever do it, John Cardiel all come to my head when answering, I don’t wanna rabbit hole on it too much haha. Bam was also like a huge inspo through CKY which is legit the greatest thing to ever be shown on tv.

When did you start nice footage, was it just you solo and what was the inspiration behind it?
I started nice footage in Summer last year I want to say around July/August time as that’s when I saw Earl Sweatshirt and I can remember it being a few weeks before that. It started as a place to post clips that I screen recorded to my phone that I didn’t want to delete so I started posting on there and tagging the creator and skater just as it’s nice for people to know that their footage is being appreciated. In terms of it being a solo thing, It’s really a one man job at the moment which my homie helps from time to time which is sick as I enjoy having people digging the page enough to want to help. The inspiration behind the account really was a page that was a page that does the same thing as @nice_footage called @swa11owtail which is also an awesome page that posts clips that they’re stoked on. I was also inspired by the likes of Grant Dawson, Brandon Yuenger, Jacob Ortega and Chase Walker whose filming style just fit the name nice_footage so perfectly.

@nice_footage is gaining popularity on instagram, who have you been most stoked about following, liking or commenting on a nice footage post so far?
Uhhh in general everyone I’m super stoked on literally everyone who follows the pages and likes the comments however one that really tweaked me out was when I first started the page I remember posting a clip of Stevie Williams from ‘It’s Official’ in Barcelona (if I remember correctly it was the Fakie Tre Sw shuv nose grind 180 to 360 down the 3 stair) I’ll add link below as if you haven’t seen that section please go watch it, See Clearly Beanie Sigel worked so well with the part too.
Sorry just went on a huge tangent there but yeah I remember posting that and at this time clips were getting 10 to 20 likes and I was stoked but I got a DM from the DGK account being like ‘Check out our new video Zietgiest if you liked this’ and I remember just being like WTF haha. I didn’t ever end up checking it out maybe I should haha!

What’s next for @nice_footage….We know there’s a website coming, can you talk a bit about that and is there anything else in the works you’re particularly excited about?
I’m mainly hyped on the website right now I was hoping to have it out for New Year’s Day but I believe it’s going to be later in January/February when I Launch the site. In terms of the site it’s basically going to be like a home for new underground videos, interviews and more. I want it this way as I know that if I had the option 5 years ago between listening to a interview with someone everyone has heard about or someone who’s name is sprouting up for doing something not everyone has clicked onto yet I’d completely go for the latter. To put it into less words, if the option was watch another podcast with Tony Hawk or watch Ben Keegan talk about his top 5 parts I’m for sure choosing Ben, Thats the homie too ! Lastly I’m so hyped for the new latenitestars vid ‘◯’which is gonna be a classic off rip as all those guys are the best ,Alan Bell and Trung are the underground SOTY’S for eternity haha, also Kirk Gait’s new vid ‘SIERRA’. Kirk is the nicest dude and deserves every bit of love he gets, if both these vids are released by the time this interview is out please go watch and give them the love they deserve !

This might be a hard one for you but can you pick your favourite clip you’ve posted on @nice_footage. If not favourite of all time then favourite recently?
I can 100% choose recently and it is the clip from that new Bottom Feeder Video ‘Live Laugh Love’ where Nick Livigni Ollie manny roof drop, I audibly gasped when I saw that I was so hyped. I’d also say the V Bomb Zach Smith does in that New Grant Dawson vid is up there for clip of the year too honestly, there aren’t many people who have as good a style as he does and being filmed by the best in the Uk in Grant Dawson it’s a power duo for real. Favourite clip ever is so tough however if I had to say one that would definitely be up there would be Ben K Smith on the stand up bike rail rail that falls on impact for ‘Hockey II’ I would even say the Ben K Smith firecracker from same section or if older any Tom Penny chain to bank clip in TWS ‘Anthology’. To be honest I could say any Ben Kadow clip he has never had one bad clip in my opinion. I’d also probably say a Stu Kirst clip but I couldn’t pick off the top of my head so I’ll just say every Stu Kirst clip wether it be a bail or make he’s the best out right now alongside BK and Krod.
Finally, what would you class as your favourite parts and videos of all time?
As I said above such a tough question but off rip I know my favourite part of all time is Ben K ‘Hockey II’ it’s honestly impeccable in terms of everything, I’d also say Bam in Adio ‘One Step Beyond’ just for the CKY B-Roll. Aidan Mackey ‘917’ part has to be up there as when I got back into skating I watched that and the Blessed part every single day before going out , one has to be Cardiel in ‘Cash Money Vagrant’ and lastly I’m gonna say ‘Stu 04’ as much as it was short any Stu Kirst footage is enough to last me a lifetime haha so yeh them last parts in no order but Ben K Hockey II on top. Video wise I’d probably say in no order 917 1, woke up by Grant Dawson, CandyLand, Toy Machine Jump off A building, RESPECTFULLY, with the apple and lastly Memory Screen all come racing to my mind first thought.
