SOUR SOLUTION III SKATEBOARD PHOTO BOOK BY GERARD RIERA

Sour Solution III released in May 2022 and was the third full length instalment from the Sour Skateboards crew.
Like many others, the video was my favourite that year, combining the perfect mix of gnarly skateboarding with interesting and crusty spots, what more could you want!

Now in the start of 2024, the heads at Sour alongside skateboard photographer Gerard Riera, have released a beautiful book to celebrate it, featuring 280 high quality pages, on hardback with full colour print, the book gives you an intimate look at the team while filming for the video. This is perfectly encapsulated with the very first photos, Vincent Huhta squeezing himself between two walls, just to spice up his line a bit.

Gerard Riera is from a town close to Barcelona, helping provide knowledge of spots, and a vision for skateboarding perfectly aligning with Gustav, Simon and the rest of the crew. Sour gives off real family vibes from the whole squad, and Riera manages to portray that, and just how mental these tricks and spots are!

Nisse Ingemarsson takes the cover, with a quite literally bonkers K bonk on a hand statue, located as most of the clips are, in Spain. On the back cover we see Gustav, camera in hand, looking on at one of the crustiest looking spots you’ll ever see, which is exactly what the Sour heads look for, and what Gerard Riera perfectly captures throughout the book.

Some personal highlights are page 24, with Simon Isakson traversing a crazy spot to it’s absolute full potential, page 113 with Josef Scott Jatta showing he’s at one with nature with a thread the needle ollie through a perfectly shaped tree and page 197 with Vincent Huhta riding a yellow rainbow. However, there’s bangers to be found with every turn of the page.

The book is the perfect mix of crazy in action skate photos, and more candid shots of the crew just being the crew, giving you an intimate eye into the process of filming a full length of this kind. This is packed full of absolute banger photos, and is a must have for any fan of the Sour crew and videos.
