‘Double Jackie’ – Newcastle Street Skate Video
‘Double Jackie’ A short street video by Jacky Veitch and Jackie Young
Double Jackie by Native team rider Jacky Veitch and shop worker Jackie Young is here. Filmed throughout the end of 2023 and all of 2024, the 7+ minute shared section is live on the NativeSkateStore youtube page.
Filmed predominantly across the North East, with a couple tricks in capital city London sprinkled in for good measure, this North East street skateboard part is finally ready to watch. Using skateboarding’s classic camera the Sony VX throughout, the VX footage really captures the rough and rugged nature of English spots, particularly some of those found in the North Eastern region we call home. The VX also gives such an amazing noise, that the nature of the spots and the battle it is skating them at times really shines through.
Using the classic Brazilian song ‘Mais Que Nada’, famous for its uses at Fifa World Cups, the lads come on heavy with bangers from each off rip, with Jackie opening it up with a crusty hippy jump over the blue rails opposite the Tanners pub, and Jacky backing him up with a hefty wallie over and out at a spot that’s been asking for it for years, opposite Haymarket metro station. Both tricks excellently captured in photo form as well as video, by master lensman, Blind Johnny.
Both skaters just continue firing off tricks back and forth for the remainder of the first song, with an array of North Eastern spots on display, and a cheeky line each at an excellent London bench spot. (Shoutout Jack Bellami for being an excellent spot tour guide).
The first song comes to an end with a back to back trick each on a very crusty Newcastle drop down ledge, that’s been often overlooked as actually worth skating over the years, but during this nighttime session, it got the seeing to it was asking for.
The second song, a classic Hip-Hop tune by the legendary Keith Murray, begins with a bit of scenic B roll at the Washington V bridge spot, a popular dry spot if you’re chasing footage on a rainy day. The lads get each other’s backs with a mirrored line each, ending with flip tricks over the gap.
A couple of clips at Manors metro, another often overlooked Newcastle spot followed, with Jacky doing a nice line including skating the rails and ending with a flip over the gap into the station, and Jackie demonstrating fast feet by flipping up then wallie’ing out on a short pad.
The second song also features a small selection of homie clips, featuring Mani Haddon, Ben Smith, Ste, Alex Connor and ending with Native Team Rider Michael Kelly boosting a Kickflip out of the infamous Sunderland Keel square fountain, followed by quick cameos from Blind Johnny and longtime shop homie Freddie Wong. Shoutout to all the lads with guest footage.
As the video begins to head towards the ending, the tricks from the lads start to hot up, featuring clips from spots such as Astro pad two block, Northumbria Uni gap to grind, and the Core ollie up to bin spot.
To finish off the section, Jacky and Jackie return to Manors, getting each other’s backs with a Kickflip from Jacky and Heelflip from Jackie down the stairs, both snagging a photo for each taken by Blind Johnny.
We’re stoked the videos live, and will link it for you below, and we’re hyped to see what the lads come up with next. Good stuff boys.
